Solid wood is milled from a single 3/4″ thick piece of hardwood. Solid wood flooring expands and contracts with changes in your home’s relative humidity. Normally, installers compensate for this movement by leaving an expansion gap between the floor and the wall. Base molding or quarter round is traditionally used to hide the extra space.

Engineered wooden flooring

Engineered wood is produced with three to five layers of hardwood. Each layer is stacked in a cross-grain configuration and bonded together under heat and pressure. As a result, engineered wood flooring is less likely to be affected by changes in humidity and can be installed at all levels of the home.

Which one is better? Solid wood or Engineered wood?

Home owners some how get the impression that engineered woods are cheaply made and hence low quality.But as in the case of all products ,manufactures make products at all level of quality to fit different consumer base. There are engineered floors on the cheaper end of the spectrum that are specifically manufactured to be affordable to a certain portion of the market. Sometimes, consumers are fooled into believing that these cheaper products are a bargain,where as what he gets is a paper thin layer of wood.On the other end of the spectrum is the engineered wood which is made of different layers of hardwood  which  can be sanded, polished and refinished if required.

Laminated wooden flooring

In laminated wooden flooring what is you see is digital print ,which gives you the look of real wood.Being digital,the patterns ,colors and textures available is unlimited.You get so many choices of wooden flooring you can never imagine if you go for solid wood or engineered wooden flooring.

Laminate wood flooring is made from composite wood pressed together at high temperatures.  The photograph or image of hardwood is then covered over the composite wood to form the laminate, thus is cheaper. If you want the look of wooden flooring ,but your budget wont allow for that,then laminated wooden flooring is the way to go.
