It is a room straight out of a catalog or a foreign film.The pink and white walls,the curtains,the decorated wardrobes and shelves.A girl’s room designed for Archa Devi. Her father Deepu.S Prakash was very clear about what he wanted his daughter’s room to look like.
Archa’s Bedroom
“It had to have all the girly elements minus the childish stuff like cartoons on the walls, so that she can continue using it even when she’s grown up,” he says.The colour code did not stop with the daughter’s room.
Deepu’s son Athul Krishnan got a blue decor,complete with a bunk bed he wanted for his friends when they come for a stay over.A boy’s room,like the ones boys have abroad,right here in a 1300 sqft apartment in Kollam!
Blue Bedroom
” I wanted the house to look different,to feel like a resort,” adds Deepu. Prasanth and Veena of ‘3DBricks’ designed the interiors of the apartment with custom made furniture and the colour schemes as desired by Deepu.
Living Room
“The open kitchen/dinning /living areas have no doors separating them.So we followed the same colour code of a pinkish red in all these rooms.The kitchen uses a glass back splash that gives a reflective finish. And all the wood used is multiwood,’says Veena.
Modular Kitchen
The biggest challenge was fitting in all requirements in the 1,300 sqft house.”We have converted the storage area into a bunk bed for Athul’s room. Archa’s room follows a dream theme.The custom made furniture helped in saving a lot of space.”
Dining Room
Deepu doesn’t use the three month old house for daily use.”I have another house in Kollam for regular use.This one ,we use when we need a change.More like our own private resort! says Deepu
