What if I love all the colors so much that I can’t choose one. What if I get bored easily by one colour. Chippy Akbar’s apartment in SFS Grand is an answer to these questions and more….
In the process of doing interios for this apartment we had the opportunity to bust some myths that prevail in the design industry.Sharing with you ,some of them:
Myth 1 : You have to paint your ceiling white to open up the room
While it is true that white reflects light better than any other color in the color spectrum, it doesn’t mean that you have to only use white on your ceilings.
In fact, adding color to your ceiling can draw the eye upward and make your room feel and appear larger. The ceilings are covered with grey colored wall paper, which goes with the neutral theme. It defines the minimally used false ceiling work and gives contrast for the beautiful crystal chandelier.
Myth 2 : Neutral color palettes are for the unadventurous
Homeowners often get the misconception that ,if they can’t choose the right color scheme ,then they have to settle for neutral colors. It is unadventurous and lifeless.
On the contrary, neutral theme gives the highest degree of freedom allowing the inmates to change the color scheme as and when they please just by changing the bed sheets or some throws.
Neutrals don’t have to just stem from the beige ,black or white.Start with warm gold, rich camel browns, buttery cream colors. Use them in conjunction with blue, red or green to put a new twist .
Myth 3 : Black is a no no!
Raise your hand if you’re scared of picking a color from the bottom of the paint chart. Does it really make a room feel smaller? Is that always a bad thing?
Whether you see the light or stand firmly on the dark side, check this out. Here you can see that the color is SO dark, that it actually recedes. It looks as if the wall is further back, than it really is.So next time if your teen son want black in his room, let it be.
Consider painting one wall, such as the one behind the headboard, as an accent.Painting the walls black also makes everything else in the space really pop!
About the project!
It is the client’s identities, memories, hopes, and dreams that help us create an experience, that transcends the physical realm and extends into the deepest consciousness.
Does this reflect the client’s personality ??. This is one question I ask myself just before picking up every single item for a home.
Thinking about the owners preferences ,and buying pieces that reflect it , has always been the most interesting part of my job. The rugs, floor cushions, lamps and even bed sheets were based on the info collected in the first and only meeting I had with Chippy, and the physiological questioner the family answered.
The places that we live enter our psyche and become a part of who we are,or put in other way, the place that we live is reflection of our self. Now meeting her family on the house warming day,I am happy to say that the home is a true reflection of the family’s personality.
