JRD International Creative Solution based in Dubai is in the business of packaging.Th reception area of their upcoming new office in Dubai was on the debate table.Partners could not agree on which style to choose for the interiors. Whether it should be done in a classic way, contemporary or minimalist. Each one had their own reason why one particular style was perfect, or the other one not so prefect.
Imagine a shell of a building that is a blank canvas with neutral walls, floor and ceiling. Now if the space is to be designed for a commercial purpose ,what will be parameters to be taken into account.
In general,it would be the associated colour pattern of the brand, logo, sound or scent. We should also take into consideration the product , who might be buying it and the kind of people who will be visiting the office.
Adding to all this, what if the space has to be conceived in three different way so that the client can decide which one is the best.
aha!…Now that is challenging.
Not so Classical
Having said Classical ,it is not sensible to design the interiors in such a way that it look like a 20th century building. The traditional elements need to be bought in ,but on a modern base. Moreover some influence of the location ,that is , Dubai also needed to be reflected in some way. Traditional with Arabic elements on a modern context. Our team was convinced that this will be our motto for further design research.See what we have come up with.
Now What??
Minimalism ,Yes ; but it should be grand too.
Minimalism on a Grand scale. It is actually a contradictory statement .You can’t be minimalistic and luxurious at the same time.
Hey ! Come on ,lobby area is the face of the business, how can you underplay it.
But ,then, What about minimalism??
Well ,let us rephrase it…”Subtle Opluence” .
Mmm… At least now we have a proper interpretation of what we want. Now let us see , what we have got with all this heated discussion.
Can you believe that the ceiling of this very modern option was inspired by the architecture of a Museum in Rome. The ceiling did capture the imagination ,and this version was accepted finally by all.
Oh No!!!
Is this the time for the Vastu guy to enter the scene. Finally when we were able to make everyone agree on something.I often wonder why people can’t consult vastu during the planning stage. It would have been a much easier life for the designer. But how on earth, does a company in Dubai believe in Vastu Stuff.Well ,as usual the firm does have Indian Roots.
Finally….
We were relived to know that ,there was not much changes in the overall design. He only wanted a water body in the southern side ,which according to him will benefit business progress. An aquarium was suggested and given below is the final approved design.
