The bonuses of renovating an old building extensively,rather than building an entirely new one ,are many.

The challenge

Hotel Gopi Nivas , in Kanyakumari was around 75 years old.The hotel used to cater to the needs of middle class customers.There was no way that ,the entire structure could be demolished mainly because the hotel was on road side and once  demolished they will not get permission to build a new structure , from government.The foundation was also not strong enough to handle any new addition to the structure. Sangam group of Hotels were now catering to the needs of an international clientele and  Gopi Nivas  Lodge now needed an upgrade.

Transformation

Light weight material’s were used for the additional extension.The roof top garden gives the feeling of an additional floor with its external facade.The uneven projections in the existing structure was given a modern outlook by external light weight cladding.

Before Renovation

The Verdict

The new avathar of the Hotel brings in lot of international customers into the hotel  looking for stay.They have increased the room rent now and yes,Gopin Nivas Grand is now listed in Trip Advisor with lot of positive comments.
